Year 8 Options Evening

Thank you to all those parents who attended our Year 8 Options Evening on Thursday 8th February in the Kent Hall. It was a really positive and successful evening and we had a fantastic 91% attendance with a few apologies given in advance.  As mentioned on the evening, we have uploaded the power point from the evening to the website along with some additional advice and guidance on the new 9-1 assessment framework.  If you were unable to attend we have sent your Options booklet and form to your home address

Weekly Bulletin: In addition to regular website updates, termly newsletter and frequent Twitter news, as from the beginning of this term we will produce a weekly School Bulletin to keep everyone updated on the events of the forthcoming week, reminders, school news and dates for the diary. The School Bulletin will be sent to parents via School Comms. The Bulletin will be published every Friday and, in addition to the School Comms message, it will also be uploaded on the school website.

Sixth Form Evening

Open Evening – To take place on Thursday 16th November 2017 between 5.00pm and 8.00pm.            

Students Joining September 2018 in Year 7

For admissions into next year’s Year 7, parents and carers are required to complete an application form known as the “Common Application Form” (CAF) through Kent County Council.  This can be found by clicking here for the Kent County Council 'Applying for a School' web page.

The North School has a published admission number (PAN) of 215 students, to be admitted into Year 7 each year.  Applications for places will be made in accordance with Kent local authority’s coordinated admission arrangements and will be made on the Secondary Common Application Form (SCAF), provided and administered by the Kent Local Authority.

Year 7 Admissions 2018 – Key Dates

1st September 2017 - Online application opens and paper CAF forms available.

31st October 2017 - Deadline for return of CAF forms to the Local Education Authority.

1st March 2018 - Parents/Carers that applied online will receive an offer email after 4pm or letters posted (you will be asked to select a method of contact).

Appeals

Appeals resulting from year of entry or transfer applications in September 2018 will be heard according to the following timetable:

  • Offer of school place for September 2018 will be made 1 March 2018 after 4pm;
  • All appeals must be lodged with the school by 29 March 2018;
  • All appeals to be heard within 40 school days of the closing date (31 May 2018).

For further information on the appeals process please visit the Kent County Council Admissions page on their website or contact Mrs Blunt at the school.  Appeals lodged after these dates will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 school days of being lodged, whichever is the later date.

Mid Year Admissions

If you are interested in applying for a place at The North School during the school year, please download and complete the In Year Casual Application Form (IYCAF) and forward to Mrs Blunt, School Admissions.
