Year 8 Options Evening

Thank you to all those parents who attended our Year 8 Options Evening on Thursday 8th February in the Kent Hall. It was a really positive and successful evening and we had a fantastic 91% attendance with a few apologies given in advance.  As mentioned on the evening, we have uploaded the power point from the evening to the website along with some additional advice and guidance on the new 9-1 assessment framework.  If you were unable to attend we have sent your Options booklet and form to your home address

Weekly Bulletin: In addition to regular website updates, termly newsletter and frequent Twitter news, as from the beginning of this term we will produce a weekly School Bulletin to keep everyone updated on the events of the forthcoming week, reminders, school news and dates for the diary. The School Bulletin will be sent to parents via School Comms. The Bulletin will be published every Friday and, in addition to the School Comms message, it will also be uploaded on the school website.

We are incredibly proud of our sixth form students and the progress they make. 


Your time in the Sixth Form will be very different from your earlier schooling.  The leap in expectation, challenge and intensity of study required to successfully complete level 3 courses is significant.  Students in the Sixth Form have more independence and responsibility for their own work which requires the development of essential study skills.


At The North School, you will benefit from an established student-centred support system to ensure that you derive maximum benefit from your time in the sixth form.  We benefit from a unique community structure which includes the Sixth Form Principal, a Learning Leader, Pastoral Support Staff and a dedicated Careers Guidance team.  Having these educational professionals working on your behalf means there is always someone you can talk to about any aspect of your studies, pastoral issue and your future pathway.


Alongside the academic focus of the Sixth Form, students also benefit from excellent enrichment opportunities ranging from working as teaching support, running school clubs and societies for younger students through to linking with outside agencies such as NCS and Young Chambers.  The Sixth Form leadership team, our Head girl and boy, their Deputies and Prefect team form the backbone of the Student leadership within the whole school. They work closely with the school to provide support at Open Events and Parents Evenings. These opportunities provide valuable experience to enhance personal statements and CVs and enable our students to make a very successful transition to university and further training or employment.
